Year Two of the Music Bachs |
Back in school in the fall, we started practicing again. John had taken off to go to college at UT in Austin, TX. Dave & I combed through guitar players until we found one that was pretty good in Eddie Pallotta. We also decided that a real bass player would be better than my left hand. Rick Salome took over those duties. |
I remember that the band was good. Eddie had some pretty hot licks. Rick was really a guitar player playing bass, but nailed what we needed him to do. Dave was still the rock on the drums. Eddie and Rick both sang some lead, but I was the main lead singer. |

Eddie Pallotta, David Seymour, Rick Salome and Michael Workman
I don't remember (and probably don't really want to remember) what happened, but we were having some sort of quarrel with Eddie. This resulted in Eddie dropping out of the band. |
Instead of hiring another guitar player, we decided to go back to the three piece idea from the year before. Rick looked forward to playing guitar. And he could play bass for some songs, if that is what we wanted. |
We found out rather quickly, that the success from the previous year was a product of time and energy that John, Dave & I had enjoyed. Not that Rick, Dave & I couldn't muster up the same, we just thought it better to blaze new trails. |
During this transition period, Bruce Robinson (tenor sax) approached me with the idea of adding horns to the band. All I could think of was that this was a different idea. After talking it over with Rick and Dave, the idea gained momentum. Bruce brought trumpet players Allyn Winslow and Eric Filios to our rehearsals and we had a new band. We decided to stay with the Music Bachs as name of the band since we were already known in Bedford. |
